How to prepare yourself for a triathlon

Competing in a triathlon is one of the greatest achievements in the sporting world as it involves mastering three grueling disciplines. Triathletes will compete against each other in swimming, cycling, and long-distance running. It is considered, alongside the heptathlon, to be the ultimate endurance event and the pinnacle of modern athletics. Train every day

Get the right gear

You can’t just put on your jeans and t-shirt, leave the house, and start training for a triathlon. That means ensuring you get the perfect pair of running shoes, light, comfortable, and durable. You also need to choose your bike very carefully as well. You don’t need to get a specific race bike, but you will need to make sure the bike is strong, comfortable, and in good working order. Make sure you have the right clothing for when you’re cycling and running as well, such as cycling shorts, and goggles and a swimming cap.

Make time for it

You’re going to have to be prepared to put in a lot of time and effort in preparation. This is not something you’re going to be able to do half-heartedly. The best thing to do would be to set yourself around 12 weeks to get into shape. This should be enough time to condition your body and get your stamina levels as high as possible. That way you only need to train 5 days a week for around 3-4 hours per week. If you can get these workouts in regular as clockwork, you will be ready to push yourself in the ultimate endurance event.

Training and preparing for a triathlon is something a lot of people never get around to, so it’s an achievement in and of itself.
